The Ideato Federal Constituency House of Representatives-elect and PDP chieftain in Imo State, Ikenga Ugochinyere, has revealed details surrounding what transpired in their party, insisting that the party did not treat the former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha well, following his withdrawal from the governorship race.

In an interview he granted recently, the CUPP spokesman lamented how unfairly Ihedioha was treated by the PDP.

"Ihedioha does not chicken out of a fight. He provided leadership for us even during our trying moments. He stood for us and united the party as a rallying point. His leadership is why we still enjoy some presence in Imo State. However, from my personal perspective, I think the way PDP treated Ihedioha is not commendable."

He added, "Ihedioha led us to a victorious mandate in 2019 until it was given to someone who came in fourth in the election. He has been fighting to retrieve that mandate until now. However, the PDP national secretary showed interest in the governorship ticket without resigning from his position. He has since emerged as a consensus candidate."

It can be recalled that the PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, emerged as the governorship candidate of the party in Imo State.
